Sustainability

Sustainability is a key driver for our management processes and is critical to decisions about design concepts and solutions, about how buildings are constructed and delivered and also about how we manage the completed building. We believe that sustainability is compatible with sound, economic value-driven development.

Some of our guiding principles are as follows:
  • Prefer passive measures to active measures, proven technologies to innovative and unproven ones.
  • Set BREEAM targets and undertake BREEAM assessments wherever applicable.
  • Avoid tokenism and over specification. Use a value hierarchy to focus on those measures that deliver the best return over the life of the building.
  • Regulatory compliant best practice solutions are the minimum that we should achieve; we should aspire in all cases to better these.
  • Sustainability should be checked over the life of the building through regular sustainability audits.
