One King William Street shortlisted for BCO award

One King William Street has been shortlisted for an award in the BCO's London & South East awards in the 'Refurbished/Recycled' category.

The 100,000 sq ft building, which was developed by Kajima in partnership with UD Europe, is a comprehensive reworking of a Grade II listed insurance office and a 1990 rear extension, in a prominent location opposite Bank Station.  AHMM Architects have successfully reworked the building to seamlessly link the original and 1990's sections, and at the same time created extended and more efficient floorplates, floor-ceiling glazing and an incredible 4,500 sq ft terrace on the 7th floor.

The exterior of the 1990's building has been fundamentally remodelled to create a better relationship with St Swithin's Lane, to the west of the building, and the resulting brick facade brings a sense of proportion back to this important thoroughfare alongside the building.

The result of the BCO regional award will be announced at the awards luncheon on the 25th April at the London Hilton Park Lane hotel.
