Lease approved to build Newcastle homes

Wednesday 15 April 2020

The project will provide affordable, quality housing for older people and people with support needs across eights sites in Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle City Council and our funding partner Waypoint have exchanged the agreements for the lease to construct 199 specialist homes in Newcastle upon Tyne. The project will provide affordable, quality housing for older people and people with support needs on Local Authority land across eights sites.

Kajima Partnerships, awarded preferred bidder for this project in October 2019, is working as part of a consortium which includes Waypoint, Tolent Living, and Your Homes Newcastle, to finance and deliver the new homes which will promote both independent living and social inclusion for Newcastle’s ageing residents over a 40 year concession.

Work is planned to start on site in June 2020.

Kajima Partnerships are engaged as fund monitor in a similar role to that currently being provided on Newcastle ALBM1, where 148 affordable new homes across the West End of Newcastle are under construction.
