Prior to the Irish Government’s embargo of 27 March 2020 on all non-essential construction work, the first timber frames were erected at the Roscommon site, where 53 housing units are being built as part of the Social Housing Bundle 2 PPP. In what represents Kajima’s first project in the Republic of Ireland, the construction of 465 units began at the end of last year across eight sites in Cork, Clare, Galway, Kildare, Roscommon and Waterford.
Torc Housing Partnerships, a consortium comprising Kajima Partnerships, Equitix, Obrascón Huarte Lain and Tuath Housing Association, was awarded the contract for the delivery of this project in November last year.
PPPs are part of the plan to accelerate the supply of social housing, which is the second pillar of the Rebuilding Ireland Action Plan for Housing & Homelessness. These Social Housing PPPs will deliver up to 1,500 social housing units across three bundles of sites.
